Support: punctures, breakdowns and accidents

One number covers everything, and it is the same number from the day you reserve to the day you hand the car back. Message us with your booking, your location and a photograph, and we tell you what happens next.

During the rental

A puncture

This is the most likely thing to go wrong on the island, and it is usually simple. Get the car off the carriageway if you can do it safely, put the hazard lights on and the warning triangle out, then message us before anyone touches the car.

  • There is a spare wheel and a tool kit in the car, checked before your handover
  • Tell us where you are, and send a photograph of the wheel
  • We arrange help, or talk you through changing it yourself

When to stop driving

If any of these happen, move somewhere safe if you can, switch the engine off, and contact us before you go any further.

  • An accident, however minor
  • Smoke, fire or a burning smell
  • Overheating, or a red warning light
  • A brake or steering problem
  • Serious tyre damage, or a wheel that does not feel right
  • A major fluid leak under the car
  • An instruction from the police

What to send us

These five things let us decide, on the first message, whether the car continues or stops.

  • Your booking reference and the car’s registration
  • Your live location
  • What happened, in a sentence
  • A photograph or a short video, including the dashboard
  • Whether everyone in the car is safe

After an accident

Stop, check that everyone is safe, and contact us. We stay on the same thread with you and handle the claim and any report.

  • Do not move the car until you are told to, unless staying there is dangerous
  • Photograph the scene, the other vehicle and the damage, from a few steps back
  • We deal with the insurer, the police report and the recovery
  • We log the case, escalate it and keep it in one place until it is closed
  • Never settle anything in cash at the roadside, and never pay for a repair you have not agreed with us
Replacement cars
When a replacement car can be sent, and how quickly, depends on where you are and what has happened. We are still setting that standard, so we will not promise a time here. Ask us on the thread and we will tell you what is possible that day.

At the end of the rental

  • You agree the return time and place when you collect the car
  • The car is checked with you against the photographs taken at handover
  • You get written confirmation, or a provisional receipt naming the exact open issue

What happens after you message

  1. Step 1: You send the messageText, a photograph or your location — whatever is quickest where you are.
  2. Step 2: We read it and answer
  3. Step 3: We arrange whatever the situation needsYou do not have to explain it twice. We take it from there and stay in the conversation.
  4. Step 4: We tell you what will happen and whenIncluding an honest answer if something will take longer than you would like.
  5. Step 5: We confirm it is resolvedIn writing, in the same chat, so there is a record against your booking.

What we can and cannot do

What we can do
  • Arrange roadside assistance and recovery
  • Change your dates and times, and add a named second driver
  • Settle a disagreement about the amount at handover
  • Explain the roads, the checkpoints and the local rules
What we cannot do
  • Send a replacement car within minutes — the island is small but not that small
  • Cancel a police fine or intervene with the police
  • Take payment on this website; the money is settled at the car

We would rather tell you the limit up front than promise something the island cannot deliver.

This is the same thread you get from the day you reserve until the car is back. Send your dates and we will confirm what is available.
